ABOUT CJ HOLMES

CJ Holmes lives in England, where it's cold and damp, and it's always raining - which provides her with enough time to write stories about magic, fantasy and romance. She'd like to escape to somewhere warm but that might mean that she spends too much time sunbathing and not enough time writing books. 

She lives in a quaint English cottage that would have one of those idyllic gardens if her fingers weren't the opposite of green. Fortunately, her husband doesn't seem to mind that almost everything she tries to grow dies instead. She enjoys drinking wine and gin, which conveniently coincides with her love of reading and writing. 

CJ finds inspiration for her writing in lots of different places. She's an avid reader, and although fantasy romance is her favourite genre, she reads widely. Her bookcases are packed with classics, murder mystery, thrillers, women's literature and comedies, as well as her textbooks from university. She's a regular at the local charity shops and always comes home with more books (and fortunately her husband loves books as much as she does). 

Her love of mythology started young, when she picked up Robert Graves' books on roman myths and legends, and then fell in love with 'I, Claudius'. She has a particular soft spot for Greek and Roman mythology, but also loves the Norse legends and Ancient Egyptians, describing her three week holiday in Egypt as the 'life changing' and 'phenomenal'.  She is also loves art, particularly around art deco and impressionist artists - and fell in love with opera at an early age. Her musical tastes vary as much as her literary ones, but she finds herself drawn to blues, jazz, classical and rock music more than other genres.
