ABOUT HER WRITING
CJ writes paranormal romance, fantasy romance, and romantasy packed with strong, sassy female characters, impossible choices, dangerous magic, and men who are hot, complicated, morally grey… or sometimes just plain evil.
Her stories are steamy, spicy, and full of strong language, open-door scenes, and characters who don’t always come through unscathed. The women in her books face brutal challenges, messy emotions, and the kind of decisions that change them forever. They usually survive. They sometimes win. But they rarely do it alone.
CJ loves writing fantasy romance because it lets her combine everything she adores: rich worlds, high stakes, powerful emotions, and romance that feels raw, intimate, and real. Her books may be set in fantastical worlds, but the relationships, intimacy, and emotional journeys are grounded in truth.
Labyrinthine is the first book in The Thrones of the Forsaken, a series of four interconnected standalone romantasy novels. Each book explores a different couple, a different corner of a dangerous magical world, and a love story shaped by power, sacrifice, and desire.
HER INSPIRATION
CJ draws inspiration from everywhere: mythology, old books, ancient ruins, dangerous women, doomed gods, beautiful art, and dramatic music. An avid reader, she loves fantasy romance best but reads widely, with bookcases full of classics, murder mysteries, thrillers, women’s literature, comedies, university textbooks, and charity-shop finds. Luckily, her husband loves books as much as she does.
Her love of mythology began with Robert Graves’ Roman myths and legends, then deepened with I, Claudius and The White Goddess. Writers such as Ursula K. Le Guin, Robin Hobbs, and T. H. White helped shape her love of mythic storytelling, complex morality, and fantasy worlds that feel deeply human.
CJ has a particular soft spot for Greek and Roman mythology, Norse legends, and Ancient Egypt, describing her three-week trip there as life-changing. She also loves Art Deco, the Impressionists, opera, blues, jazz, classical music, and rock.
All of it finds its way into her writing: the myths, the music, the art, the romance, and the monsters.
